The Town of Farmington

The Town of Farmington is located in Ontario County at Exit 44 on the New York State Thruway. We are approximately 25 miles southeast of Rochester, NY. We like to think that we are the western gateway to the famous Finger Lakes Region of NYS. Our population has grown modestly over the years to well over 10,500 as of the 2000 U.S. Census. We are still largely a farming community with small businesses growing and becoming a core part of our town. We offer an excellent quality of life – Progressive Farmer Magazine in 2006 rated Ontario County the number one rural county in which to reside in the United States! – with several town parks, educational opportunities and a mixture of suburban as well as country living.

The New York State Thruway (Interstate 90), a major East, West transportation thoroughfare, places our community in an ideal location for business on-the-go. Water and sewer infrastructure is available in most areas designated for commercial development. We are a highly skilled labor force from Ontario County and the nearby surrounding area. In addition, we have an established Industrial Park that is within one half mile from Exit 44 of the Thruway. We also have designated a “Build NY Now” site for commercial development. Ontario County’s Industrial Development Agency leads the way in offering new business opportunities in this exciting area of the Finger Lakes Region.

Farmington is one of the fastest growing towns in Ontario County. Commercial and industrial development is experiencing exceptional growth as more and more business interests are taking advantage of the many benefits that are positioning our bustling township as the epicenter of commercial and industrial activity in the Ontario County region.
